Pathfinding

The previous painting to this one, Lake George Pelicans, was quite dark and somber so I wanted in this one to paint a scene that radiated light and warmth.

I settled on a memory of exploring the Yankee Hat area south of Canberra in the Namadgi National Park, on a hot summer’s day. Due to luxuriant grass growth thanks to two years of La Nina rains, the track across a creek to the mountain was completely obscured, and we ended up wandering aimlessly trying unsuccessfully to find the way. It really didn’t matter though – the journey is just as important as the destination.

“Pathfinding” is acrylic and ink on 122x81cm hardboard, and will not be for sale though may be exhibited at some point.
